Victor's already rising to his feet, making sure he has a secure grip on Miku's legs, when some horrible shrieking thing appears in front of them.

It also appears to be one of their teammates.

Victor shrieks in response, hop-skipping backward as the bony blades scrape against Miku's shield. Then he narrows his eyes and backs up another few steps so that he can launch himself forward with his powerful legs, carrying Miku and her shield with him.

He really hopes she can keep it up, because otherwise this is going to go very poorly.
