There's a faint hint of a smile, laced with the usual bitterness. The difference between then and now, is that they can much more candid about their feelings. No red tape, no bureaucratic nonsense, just two old soldiers that just won't stop fighting for what they believed in, no matter how much they tried to mask that with a cold sense of obligation. Or in some cases, indifference.
