The Spectre mostly just looks outraged at the attacks. They don't hurt him at all but they do distract and enrage him, deflecting his attention away from the prisoners he was creatively murdering.

His voice booms through the bloody nightmare realm he's made inside the prison.

"Who dares interfere in my mission of vengeance? Begone, lest I judge you as well! So says... The Spectre!"
