What's immediately beyond the little section of world they've created is a desert. The sands are a bright orange that's just a touch too bright to be natural. There's a petrified forest of black trees peeking out between the sands.

The trees don't have leaves. Where the crowns of leaves should all be there's just fire. They're all burning, but despite the desert sun, the air is cold.
