It's odd that this is the first time during this little jaunt into undying hell that that thought has crossed Wash's mind. He was briefed on the Cancerverse, on its effects, on what it was trying to do, and while he wasn't completely prepared for this particular flavor of hell, at least he had some idea what to expect. He had the dossier, and he had a goal. Nothing he'd seen or been told had prepared him for a monochromatic woman whose very presence makes every nerve in his body stand on end and shriek a warning. It feels for all the world like a near-death experience-

Wash tends to trust Rich's judgment when it's apparent he's not being influenced by semi-immortal octopus wannabes; it also helps that Rich is saying exactly what he wants to hear. He bolts, stopping a short distance from the portal, and turns to face the woman. Much as he wants to be out of here, he's not going before he makes for damn sure everyone else has made it through.
"Are you going to bring it down after we leave?" Might as well confirm if he can.
