Wash remembers this place, if only briefly: a moment or two of strangled consciousness, struggling to breathe while every warning system in his armor screamed about his imminent death, before waking up in medbay on Legion world.
Having the ability to get a second, longer look at the place does exactly nothing to mitigate that first impression. Phelolu is a death planet.
And yet they're here to bring some life back into the Legion and the fight against Chronoblivion. There's something weirdly poetic about that, though Wash doesn't have any spare time or thought to devote to it. He's found a half-wrecked building within the perimeter and settled into its shadows. He kills the lights on his armor, makes sure that there's no light source to reflect off of him, and does his best to think of this like a normal mission, even though it's anything but. "Yes, ma'am."
After a moment's consideration, he opens a private channel to Danny. There's the impulse to ask if he's doing okay - the kid's had a hell of a week, after all - but he bites it back. Danny wouldn't have come if he didn't think he was capable. It'll be fine. "Hey," he says instead, "do you think you can overshadow whatever inevitably shows up to crash the party?"
