The Legionnaires don't just have to keep the Miracle Machine out of the hands of the enemy, they also have to make sure the caravan can keep rolling. With enemies trying to destroy their rides, they have to do all they can to stay alive and keep the Catastrophists from running them off the road.

...Mostly because the road itself is running out. Anyone that falls off the caravan and any cars or trucks that go down will be quickly swallowed by the void following behind them all. The team has to keep itself rolling long enough to reach the end of the line.
