Donnie wasn't an amazing actor - his brand of infiltration was more the "don't get spotted in the first place" type - but he wasn't half bad, either, and it wasn't too hard to throw a touch of imperious and long-suffering annoyance in his tone. (All he really had to do was pretend he was channeling Harold, and switch his slang out for SAT words.)
