kingtyrantranger: (More scowly)

OTA

"Okay." So. How did this work? Jason frowned, watching the ring closely, then jerked as the onboard AI spoke directly into his head.

[TRAINING IN THE USE OF THE POWER RING WILL BE OFFERED TO ALL NEW RECRUITS ON MOGO.]

He paused, then scrubbed his cheek for a moment, giving it a puzzled stare. "I dunno, bro. I'm not sure we're going to have time for that. Don't you have some sort of quick start guide? Or an instruction booklet?"

There was a moment of silence, then [UPLOADING. ADJUSTING PARAMETERS.]

Jason jerked and froze suddenly, like someone caught in the act of pissing on an electric fence, for about three solid seconds before shaking himself and holding his hand to his head. "Ow. Warn me next time you do that! What even was that‽"

[YOU WERE WARNED. BASIC USER MANUAL UPLOADED. ADVANCE USER OPTIONS AVAILABLE AFTER TRAINING ON MOGO.]

He shook himself again, glowering at the ring on his finger. Then he paused again, left and right, and sealed himself into an opaque bubble. Just testing, or so it seemed. The main part was that it was soundproof, something he tested by just shouting until he was satisfied that no one could hear him. Besides, he didn't want to tell the thing that training on Mogo probably wasn't gonna be an option. "Okay. The Morpher. My Tyrannosaurus and Dragon Power Coins. You probably picked them up during the whole mess. Can you, y'know. Re-trigger them?"

There was a brief moment as the ring scanned and calculated, but the response was still faster than any computer back home. [NO. THE ARTIFACTS WORK ON AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ENERGY SIGNATURE, ONE THAT DOES NOT EXIST IN THIS UNIVERSE. YOU POSSESS INSUFFICIENT WILL, IMAGINATION, AND INTELLIGENCE TO REPLICATE THE SIGNATURE REQUIRED TO POWER THEM. YOU COULD REPRODUCE THEM COSMETICALLY AND REPLICATE THEIR FEATS, BUT NOT USE THE POWERS THEMSELVES.]

Jason grumbled at the reply. He wasn't sure what irked him more, the fact that a hopped up piece of jewelry called him stupid or that there wasn't even a chance that he could access his real powers here. Still. Cosmetics. If he had to wear green, there was really only one way he could go with it. Closing his eyes, he took a breath, letting the ring rearrange things for him, wrapping the bubble around him to form his chosen uniform. Rather than a replica of his Legion uniform, he chose to go a little more traditional. The gold was out, of course, so he settled with a glowing green construct. But if he had to wear Tommy's colors into a fight, he could at least go all-in.
