OOC post discussion

It's a lovely, lovely day in the Desert Zone. The sun's out (because the sun is always out), the spearodactyls are soaring, and monstrous vehicles driven by mercenary tributes and their Warboy henchmen rumble through the dunes and harsh salt flats, hunting for unwary victims.
You are here.
Fortunately, you're not the only one here.
What We're Doing
You woke up with (or close enough to with) another Legionnaire (or Legionnaires) and have banded together. As team members find one another, they're forming a multi-war-rig convoy and making a run straight for the allegedly impenetrable force field in an attempt to break free.
On this journey, they will face opposition from the mercenary tributes. They will also have to cross through the sandstorm about halfway there. (You're also free to bring in your own hazards!)
Because having it all be one gigantic thread would be a mess, we're setting it up for everyone to be able to subthread whatever they want while handwaving the fact the convoy is going to the same place more or less together. Thread, NPC, and plot freely together. There will be a thread reserved for the end of the line.
When We Get There
The "finale" thread will have the Legionnaires reach the edge of the dome and do whatever they'd like to try and break it, instead just proving that they really can't bust out at this point. Then Arcade's hologram will appear to taunt them and use the Arena's teleportation systems to scatter the characters to other locations, wherever players deem fit to drop characters to continue their plot threading outside this post.
How Long Will This Take?
Assume this consumes most of Day 1. Characters will be scattered a little while before nightfall, so you'll have still have some time to do some Day 1 Things™ before Day 2.

Grif had to raise his voice a little over the engine.
"Okay so." He had to think. Explaining how to drive was like explaining how to breathe, he hadn't thought about it in a long time.
"It's parked. The wheel steers. Then there's pedals." He pointed to them. "Right is gas, left is brake, that's go and stop. The harder you press it the faster it happens."
He figures it's better to get that out of the way before they put the thing in drive.
Helpfully, the space future seems to prefer automatics.
"You press the brake, hold this button in, and pull the stick to D to drive, R to reverse, P to park."
That's when he got sidetracked by a plume of dust rising in the right mirror.
"...We should kind of maybe get the hell out of here."

Way too close, but it wasn't like she knew what good driving posture looked like.

"Easy!" he yelled as he slammed back into the seat, startled.
"Don't hang off it like that, it's gonna make it hard to-"
Was that a rock? A really big rock? Yes, it was.
"STEER!"
Oh god he really should've just taken the wheel on this to start with.
no subject
Very hard.
And nearly smacked her head against the side window as they veered sharply off course, leaving the rock safely behind them (for some relative value of "safely").

"The faster you do things the faster they happen, and that's really fucking fast!"
They could deal with his permanent coarse language problem later.

She eased up on the turn, eventually managing to get them back on a straight line heading away from their pursuers (who or whatever they were), and reminded herself not to turn to look at Grif when she snapped -
"You're so crude!"
Why deal with his language problem later when she had this totally under control now?
no subject
Or they could deal with it now. That worked too. But Grif was pretty sure being chased by probably-hostile cars across a desert was a perfectly appropriate time to go hard on the profanity.
At least he felt confident in twisting around in his seat to focus on the dust cloud again.

They swerved to the left to dodge a cactus, but not nearly so dramatically, this time. See? She was learning!
"- be able to comport himself on the battlefield as well as off of it." Enthusiasm, okay. That was one thing. But you could put all your energy into something without being crude about it. Naomasa, for instance -
- again, this time to the right. "Can you see anything on the horizon?" Ahead, she meant, rather than behind them. She couldn't make anything out, and while getting away from their pursuers was definitely the top priority, the idea of driving deeper into a featureless desert wasn't exactly an appealing one, either.
