TOTAL ECLIPSO THE HEART [modplot/log]
Who| Everyone who signed up
What| "Total Eclipso The Heart"
Where| Apokolips
When| The same time as "The Ninth Gate" and "The Gone-Away World"
Warnings/Notes| cw: suicide, due to the Catastrophists MO

Apokolips was intimidating enough when it was bleak and dead but now it's even more of a living nightmare. As Eclipso, Catastrophists, and monsters menace the defense garrison, screams cut through the air the way they used to back when Apokolips' old ruler was alive.
Catastrophists toss themselves into the firepits in droves and smoke starts to rise from them. Somehow their sacrificial bloodshed seems to be doing something to the core of the planet. It groans and strains and the ground shakes as machinery under the surface starts to slowly get stoked back to life.
Some of the Catastrophists even rise into the air while wearing winged uniforms and clash with garrison members capable of flight - Apokolips' old parademon troops, reborn in a new form.
This world is a death engine, and if they don't manage to stop it it from restarting, Chronoblivion's forces will have an entire world to make war from.

...Maybe even the stupid therapy thing is something he'll look back on as something he was wrong about and something Wash was right about. Who knows.
Either way, he jumps right in.
"Technically, the Biblical flood probably didn't actually happen 5000 years ago? You know, carbon dating and everything. The world's pretty old. That means you haven't done anything worthwhile in, oooh, at least tens of thousands of years? Probably?"
He blasts at her - a blast mostly meant to annoy - and tries to keep blasting at her to knock her off guard so they can all get into position. He uses the Nova Force arm that he uses in place of his prosthetic while fighting to swing up into some pipes and mechanical nonsense for cover.
Wash's powers make him better at being the big annoying target - the carrot. They work best when he gets right in there. And his powers, which make him a glass cannon, are the big stick. Lots of oomph, provided that he can avoid getting hit.
He hates fighting like this, so indirectly, but he can give Wash and Ray better cover this way. He can keep changing positions any time it looks like she's about to get the drop on either of them, and can snipe when she's distracted by attacking them. And if he can get a shot lined up to take out that dangerous blackened eye with a focused gravimetric pulse...all the better.
"Wash is right, no wonder The Big Guy traded up," Rich says, after blasting her with another concentrated Nova Force blast, and disappearing once more. "Sounds like that sure was a messy divorce, though."
He lets out a low whistle and changes positions again.

"You're so quick to invoke His name, but the Heavenly Father hates you all. Why else would he create beings like the Spectre and myself to punish you? Why else would he allow something like Chronoblivion to exist?"
She blasts at Ray and Wash with chaos magic, and sends a few blasts in the directions she thinks Rich is in to keep him on his toes.
"You're the effluence, the rot that came pouring forth at the end of His idle experiments. You're just the remains in His petrie dish after His pointless experiments."
no subject
"Better question: If any of that were remotely true, why are we winning so far? Either He's tipping the odds in our favor," which wouldn't exactly surprise Ray. At this point the amount of things he'd managed to survive was bordering on the improbable, especially taking into account the amount of time the Ghostbusters had crossed the streams, "or you just suck."
"Honestly, I prefer the latter as a hypothesis," he says, as he passes through another building, "It's a nice, neat explanation that doesn't require godly intervention to work. Not to mention the vast amount of empirical evidence."
no subject
"Yeah, you'd think being one of God's perfect creations would involve being able to hit the broad side of a barn." Said to Ray, made loud enough by his voice amplifier to pointedly make its way back to the Doom Queen chasing them.
The next sentence is flung directly at her. "Humanity may be God's accident, but you're His mistake!"

When she looks up again, there's a smoking hole where that eye used to be. It starts healing before their eyes, but it's still jacked up for now.
Compressed grav pulses had a very narrow spread, but they were handy for putting a dent into something durable if you could actually manage to hit your target.
After she starts looking for where the shot came from, Rich follows up by slamming her into a pylon with a high yield gravimetric field.
"Yeah, I think this is, uh, a little more of that empirical evidence Ray was talking about."

She's also starting to look incandescent with rage.
Luckily, they're not far from the T-gate. Unluckily, she's angry enough to start basically hulking out.
"I'll melt your flesh and grind your bones to ash," she cries out, and then she lets out an earth-shattering scream in the angelic tongue, that causes the air to vibrate. The soulless Apokoliptian constructs and buildings around them start to shatter and fall.
no subject
"Now let's haul ass! Phase 2 starts right...about...now!" he shouts, right before diving though the T-Gate.

Wash pauses for a moment in front of the T-Gate - long enough to face the pursuing spirit of God's wrath and all that bullshit and hold his arms out to his sides, come at me, bitch written loud and clear in his body language.
Then he turns and dives through the T-Gate, because that unearthly scream is going to break his armor apart if he stays there for too long and he is not waiting around for that to happen.
no subject
"Of course she's gotta start screaming in tongues or whatever it is," he grumps as he dives through, sparing one last glance to make sure she's still enraged enough to follow.
She is. She flies after him, still screaming, so he dives in, and the second he's through the gate, he dives off to the side of it.

Shanghalla? The massive statues of dead Legionnaires greet her. There are also memorials for fallen Science Police officers and the graves of heroes from a thousand worlds.
She stops when she reaches the other side, confused. She clearly thought they were escaping to Legion World or another world but this strikes her as strange... but by the time she turns around the gate has closed.
"What? What is this?"

"reaH em!" he shouts, light spilling forth from the book, "I tsac siht lleps no dewollah dnuorg, ni eht ecneserp fo nellaf seoreh. He's wearing a glove on his flesh and blood hand and the other arm is just an energy tentacle at the moment, but that doesn't stop him from pretending to buff his nails against his uniform.
Magical energy starts wrapping around Eclipso, turning into glowing chains and humming as it builds up energy and momentum.
He gestures around at the massive monuments everywhere. Several of the ones closest to them are of dead Legionnaires.
"The ground here's about as consecrated as you can get, by several thousand religions, there are holy relics buried everywhere due to so many heroes and even some religious leaders being buried here." He points to the spot where magic is trapping Eclipso. The soil under her is slightly disturbed. "Oh, also, before we fought you, we came here and bled on the ground a lil' bit. You know, 'anointed it with the blood of heroes'? That kind of thing."
He grins.
"They're going to be able to see this from space," he says, not knowing he's echoing the words another hero said 1000 years before.
