WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD - Mod Plot [Mission Log Post]
Who| Everyone!
What| Fighting all the threats that Galactus' presence has caused
Where| Mostly on and around Braal, except for Spectre team who will be on Earth
When| After Galactus' appearance and after Nova was put in Medbay
Warnings/Notes| N/A for now
There were a lot of fires for the Legion to put out all at once. While the Legionnaires native to the universe constructed the sun cannon near Braal's sun and prepared to fend off an attack from Galactus, the other teams had to get into place in the many places they were needed.
So far Galactus' siphons hadn't been sunk into the planet yet but it was only a matter of time.

Posting order: Tsubomi and Hiccup next
"I see that your choice has been made. Unfortunately, so has mine."

The moment she realized the Surfer was distracted, Tsubomi shoved aside her fears to focus entirely on this instance. Her hands came together at the wrists, open palms aimed directly at the Surfer. Feeling the energy collect in her hands, she willed the pink light into smaller orbs before they shot out at rapid-fire speed.
"Blossom Shoot!"
It was just like being a Precure at home, though she lacked the familiar comforting presence of Chypre and the other Precure.

Meanwhile, even as he manipulated Toothless's tailfin, Hiccup was concentrating. Braal was filled with metal. The buildings, the ground, even the sky itself had some sort of metallic content. And Hiccup used that, leeching it out of the earth and air. It condensed into a pair of very dense spheres that Hiccup sent flying at their foe.
Posting order: Sam and Grif next
Toothless' plasma blasts hit the Surfer head on, almost knocking him off his board. Raising a hand, he stopped Hiccup's spheres in mid-air, but the effort was a good distraction. It meant that Tsubomi's attack hit him head on, knocking him through the air into factory wreckage.
"I've bathed in stars themselves. Neither dragon's breath nor low magics will make me kneel," said the Surfer, pulling himself out of the wreckage. "This is a pointless waste of your lives."
He raised a hand and rusted metal beams rose into the air from the wreckage. With his ability to manipulate matter he changed them back into unrusted metal again and sharpened them into pointed javelins. With a wave of his hand, they all shot in multiple directions, three or four directed at each of them. They weren't impossible to dodge, but all of them would have to move fast to do it.

Sam cut himself short when the javelins began whizzing towards him. Moving fast, thankfully, was half his playbook, and he took off, dodging in a direction that put a little distance between himself and Tsubomi. Better to spread out, and really, Sam was at his best in open space with a lot of room to maneuver.
As the javelins shot past, he twisted himself upright again to hover a little distance above the ground, gathering energy for a blast even as he kept talking.
"It doesn't have to go this way. There are tons of other places the big guy could eat without killing everybody. Come on."

His problem wasn't speed, though, it was endurance. Grif wouldn't be able to keep this up for a long time. He came to rest for a moment on a spar of metal and concrete, panting.
"It's not worth it! He doesn't actually care!" he shouted. "He just acts nice about it so he can sleep better at night!"
"Look at me I'm the fucking Silver Surfer, I'm such a nice guy I'll tear out your lungs and call it a favor! A goddamn humanitarian!"

He leaped onto his board again and rose into the air. For a moment, he stopped attacking. To some, it might have looked like him simply focusing on dodging their attacks -- but he was fast enough to dodge and attach at the same time. And certainly powerful enough.
And yet...
"This world has been chosen. My master cannot be swayed or turned aside. Already, my fellow herald roams the skies, prepared to strike down any who try to escape the planet's destruction."
He could've spoken of his own choices as herald. He could've told them he'd chosen this world. Could have.
His head tilted just slightly, as the power cosmic told him something was happening far off. A fight. A fight with Stardust.
He didn't leave to go help her. Surely, she could handle the threat on her own...
"She believes it's a great honor to be consumed by our master."
With him going on the defensive like this, it was almost like he was trying to waste some time...

But she was in the air now, hands balled into fists at her sides. A pink glow was enveloping her hands yet she did not raise them. Not right away. Not when she realized that, to her, the Surfer seemed to be hesitating.
"If you didn't care then you wouldn't be talking to us, right? Please-- it isn't too late to stop this, it can't be!"
There was no hiding the desperate tone of her voice nor the sympathetic look on her face.
"Just like Sam said, your master could go somewhere else. Some place with no people and spare the lives of everyone here!"

"Stardust is crazy. Completely nuts. You should be tying her to a cosmic boat and setting her adrift, not letting her do whatever she wants."
Posting order: Sam and Grif next (after this round, we'll move towards Stardust being gone)
That was why he couldn't simply lead Galactus away. He couldn't control his partner.
The Surfer rose into the air on his board and then suddenly jumped off, rocketing to the ground at breakneck speed, propelled by the power cosmic to fall even faster than gravity.
The shockwave that resulted when he impacted the ground was strong enough to potentially knock them all back and just shy of being strong enough to burst eardrums.
However, it was nowhere close to being fatal or strong enough to severely injure them.

And Sam acted on instinct. He could say it was one of the first things he'd learned, when mastering his powers and getting used to fights that went at rocket speed, but honestly, it went even further back than that. He'd learned it from playing sports, and using it in fights had just made it that much more imperative that he master it.
If you want to keep up, don't aim for where they are. Aim for where they will be.
So as soon as the Surfer started his descent, Sam let loose the energy blast he'd been saving. Not into the air, where the board was floating.
To the ground, where the Surfer was going to land.

He slid down and hit the dirt.
Posting order: Tsubomi and Hiccup
When he climbed out of the wreckage again, he suddenly paused, looking upward at his master.
The siphons from Galactus' ship were started to descend on the planet -- but right then a blast came at his ship from the direction of the sun, causing massive damage to his ship, and causing the siphons to retract again. Galactus returned the blast with the power cosmic. A blast of it streaked away towards the sun.
Galactus was left rebuilding his ship.
"Your companions have destroyed my fellow herald's physical form, and they've damaged my master's ship."
Surfer hesitated now, no longer fighting them, his gaze cast downward as he was lost in thought, considering the options.
Now he was the only herald and his master had already been inconvenienced. A good case could be made now, perhaps, that he might better serve his master by leading him somewhere else. Their pleading and arguments hadn't fallen on deaf ears. He only needed another little...nudge.
"You say that there are worlds nearby with no sentient life where life energy would still be abundant?"
