It was not a surprise that Murder World was trying to kill him. Jason was used to things trying to kill him.

It all started with the fact that he had been kidnapped, tossed in an arena by a guy named Arcade, and told that this entire arena was trying to kill him. The part that was really troubling him was the fact that apparently his death was going to take place in the middle of a field of gum drops with neon colored lollipop trees. Arcade's sense of humor was not shared by the former praetor of Camp Jupiter. The "supplies" he'd been given were also a joke he did not appreciate.

However, despite all of this, Jason was not going to give Arcade or his audience the joy of seeing him upset about it. He still had his magical coin and he had his abilities. He couldn't fly, apparently, he'd tried that first thing. The winds just refused to cooperate, though at least when he directed a gust at something else the power functioned okay. Jason was a demigod, a son of Jupiter, and one of the seven. If he was taken out by a candy-coated MurderWorld then there was seriously something wrong with this universe.

With this thought in mind, Jason set his sights on the distant mountain. He figured it would be a strategic advantage to get to higher ground and see if he could find a way out of this bizarre place. What sick mind made a MurderWorld out of candy anyway? Was he going to have to fight gummi bears or something? Jason shifted his pack and started walking, the ground squishy and slightly sticky under his feet. His senses were on high alert because he had no idea what to expect here. He was falling back to Lupa's training and hoped it would be enough.

Whether a friend or foe approached first seemed to be the question, but for the moment Jason walked onward.

"They haven't worked since I woke up and got the Legion recruiting pitch. I didn't lose my wings or anything--" she pointed down at her feet, where the standard-issue boots had some interesting modifications to allow her little white Mercury wings to stick out "--so I think maybe the laws of physics in this universe just aren't compatible with however my mutation works."

She looked around at the rolling candy hills and the not-at-all-burbling syrup brook that could not accurately be described as "flowing" nearby, then up at the candy mountain in the middle distance. "Least of my worries right now, but man, you don't realize how convenient flying is until you suddenly can't anymore."
