THE BOOKS OF MAGIC [modplot]
Who| Everyone who signed up
What| The Books of Magic Plot
Where| All over the DC Universe
When| The same time as "Out With the Old"
Warnings/Notes| N/A
Their mission had brought them to Sorceror's World, which led to their first lead -- a strange artifact that, if completed, would allow them to find how the Spectre had been imprisoned the first time. After the golden device had been activated and revealed this, they all suddenly found themselves teleported in teams of two to new locations.
Strange, weird, and magical new locations.

Part 1
Ray and Dipper - Themyscira
The city doesn't look that heavily populated, but there are some figures visible moving through its streets.
All of them are women.
Re: Ray and Dipper - Themyscira
"PKE reading is normal,", he says to Dipper as he replaces it. "Maybe a couple of ticks higher than the usual background reading, but that's not out of the ordinary."
"As far as places to be unceremoniously dropped into go, we certainly could do worse." He adds optimistically, and not without cause. A Mediterranean beach is definitely an improvement over the Netherworld. Or Hell.

There's a mission, sure, whatever. But that's not really the priority here, because he wants to play with the ghost-finding machine that goes boop.

Hal and Vance - Delirium's Realm
Far off in the distance, they can see what looks like a mountain. It's clearly made of cheese. Many different arrows in all colors and sizes point in the direction of the mountain.
They must go the opposite way.

Miku and Pidge - The End of Time
A light hangs low and dim in the sky, dim and red, like a blood moon, but it's not the moon. It's the sun, hanging near-dead in the sky. If not for their transuits, the air would be cold.
They are alone here, on a distant beach, under a dying sun, close to the end of time but not quite close enough.

It didn't hurt, but she just ate total shit in front of someone and it's embarrassing. So it takes her a few moments to spit it all out before she can actually take a moment to look around.

The smell of salt was too much, and while Pidge cleared her mouth of it, Miku looked around, "...What a sad place."

Kyle Rayner and Joey Wilson - Nanda Parbat
Flurries of snow filter around them, buffeted about by the strong winds through the mountains.
no subject
The look isn't about sight-seeing. He'd been trying to spy the rest of their teammates, but they aren't anywhere to be found. After checking that he still has flight ring, he takes a couple cautious steps to towards the side. It's a long way down, but there's only snow.
"It could be worse," he signed to Kyle. "I think we can rule out Dracula and the Titans of New Chronus."
no subject
Despite his 'disappointment,' he was pretty inclined to agree. So far, so good. Not being thrown into an immediately hostile environment was always a plus, though he wasn't sure that he recognized this place...
"This place looks pretty ancient, though. Whatever we get, it's going to be weird."

Grif and Gohan - Atlantis
In the distance they can see a majestic underwater city, lit up with glowing phosphorescent lights like an underwater Vegas.
no subject
Not that he was thinking too much about that, given the gorgeous underwater city in the distance. Something Gohan had... never really encountered before, which said something, given he'd been to multiple planets and dimensions.
"So uh..." Gohan sheepishly scratched his cheek. "I guess we're going to the big underwater city over there?"

The ocean is okay, at the top. It's pretty. You can mess around in it. But being under the ocean is bullshit.
"Bwuh?"
Oh right. Mission. Dorky teammate. Important shit.
"...Right," he says. "C'mon. The sooner we get this over with the sooner I can stop thinking about every Jaws movie ever made."

Sariatu, Beetle, Kubo - The Parliament of Trees
There's constant sense that one is being watched.

"Um," he said, sitting up, holding the shamisen over his head. At least the air was warm enough that being damp would only be a bit uncomfortable. "I think I'm stuck."
He looked around to see where his parents had landed, and which one was in a better position to pluck him on to dry land.
no subject
"Ugh, they couldn't have dropped us somewhere not covered in mud?" She huffs irritatedly and offers Kubo a hand to try to pull him upright. "It's filthy."

Namorita and Parker - Faerie
Just an ordinary, perfectly mundane wooden gate. Nothing special. It's just there, only in one place. It's certainly not in two planes of existence simultaneously.
Re: Namorita and Parker - Faerie
"I don't think that's part of the thing," she says.
no subject
"Look, before we start...there are rules. Break them, and it's game over, maybe permanently." She sighs and folds her arms. "Problem is, I don't know what they are. Just...be polite to everyone and don't agree to anything without getting the details first. And don't take anything unless it's offered, and maybe not even then..." she trails off with a disgusted sigh. "I hate quests."

Soldier 76 and Spider-Gwen
There is an opening in the wall nearby, in the form of the mouth of one of the massive hulking forms.
no subject
Maybe the exasperation also has something to do with his current partner, but if there's something he's good at beyond pointing a gun at things and pulling the trigger, it's compartmentalizing. He'll have to bite down all his sardonic remarks for the sake of the mission.
Their next course of action seems fairly obvious--that sure is an opening in the wall, and even though it's ominous, he's pretty sure that's where they're headed.
"You see any other way in?"
More of a cursory question than anything.
no subject
This would definitely be it.
"Nope. All I see is this giant wall of people, space, and more space."
Lots of space.
"May as well go in. I mean, what's the worst that could happen?"
