THE LEMURIAN ADVENTURE
Who| Open to all!
What| The underwater city of Lemuria is flooding!
Where| Lemuria!
When| The same time as Heist of the Century and just after the beginning of Bodies For Rent
Warnings/Notes| This is a natural disaster, so things might get hinky and intense.
When the Legionnaires drop in, the first thing that hits is the sound. Like the cables of a suspension bridge snapping, but drawn out endlessly rather than ending swiftly. It’s enough to set anyone’s nerves on edge.
Their briefing explained it. The reactors that powered the main shield suffered a disastrous cascade failure, and the engineers who went to fix it have failed to check in. Then, despite this being a tectonically stable region, an earthquake wreaked havoc in the dome. It’s a scientific impossibility, without metahuman or scientific interference. They need to get everyone to the T-Gate stations and connected to the refugee centers, but the population is panicking and there are some riots as the disasters and the public announcement of sabotage raised questions of who’s trustworthy and who’s part of it.
There’s been a request for anyone with technical training or even rescue training to go to the tunnels and rescue the engineers, as well.
Whatever the case, it’s obvious that the city doesn’t have much time. The main field has already collapsed and the secondary shields are screaming in protest under the billions of tons of pressure. With the faint sound of an explosion, they blink out and there’s a hammering noise as the ocean slams into the transpariplates that make up the main city dome. Silence reigns for a second, the faint sound of cracking material obviously a figment of their imaginations… right?
DISASTER THREATS
A. EARTHQUAKES
Somewhere in the city, there’s a seismic generator. It’s not exactly subtle, the surrounding area will slowly turn into a volcano, drawing up earth and venting magma around as it works its magic to wreck the city. The vibrations it causes are strong enough that being close enough will rattle the Legionnaire’s teeth. The Legionnaires have to find it and stop it, or destroy it, before it can do any further, but it’s not unprotected.
And that’s not saying that there’s only one. They might run into a gang of saboteurs setting up another one, just in case the first is settled in. If two get activated in this close a proximity, any other efforts they put forth might as well be for nothing.
B. COLLAPSING BUILDINGS
None of the structures in Lemuria have been built to withstand earthquakes, nor have the people been taught how to handle them. The first quake damaged many buildings, and now they’re threatening to collapse with any further interference. Some already have. It’s up to the Legionnaires to search the rubble for survivors or pull people out of the buildings before something worse happens.
C. FLOODING
The transpariplates of the domes and their connecting tunnels are cracking. Water is pouring in through the cracks, and some of the smaller domes have already seen their smaller buildings submerged. People will be trapped, either in structures or on top of them, and the rapidly rising water level is making an evacuation extremely dangerous. Fortunately, this is one disaster they had something set in store for, with rafts and artificial gills being in ready supply, but the stores have been raided and what should be plenty for all has turned into barely enough for some.
The Legionnaires can focus on sealing the cracks with their powers or a provided sealant, or pulling people out of submerged buildings and vehicles or from the tops of their buildings and to a T-Gate nexus.
D. LOOTING AND PANIC
Never let a matter of life and death get in the way of a good riot. Some citizens have taken it upon themselves to spend their last minutes on a witch hunt, tracking down anyone they suspect of being a saboteur and holding impromptu kangaroo courts. Others have taken the chance to throw chairs through windows and claim whatever they find inside. Yet others have taken to stampeding in the streets, clogging the proper evacuation routes in their rush to get out. And, finally, some ill-meaning citizens have taken the anarchy as an excuse to do whatever they want.
While the first directive of the Legion in this situation is the preservation of life rather than protecting material goods, there’s no reason to let criminals run amuck. Whether it’s calming crowds or slugging looters, there’s something the heroes can do to help the situation.
E. FIRES
A fire in an underwater city. How ironic. But, whether it’s due to rioters or the seismic generators, portions of the city are ablaze. The Legion might choose to ignore putting the blaze out, considering the incoming water will likely extinguish them, but there are still people inside the buildings that need to be rescued.
F. REACTOR REPAIRS
The geothermal reactors that need to be fixed are in underground tunnels, something that at least makes them nice and dry. The heat, however, is another thing entirely, and the trans suits aren’t famous for their air conditioning capabilities. Only one reactor needs to be repaired to power the main field just enough to keep the domes from breaking any further, but they’re complex enough that anyone who isn’t an engineering specialist might end up needing to get instructions from specialists in the Legion World monitor room to fix the damage.
The saboteurs haven’t left, however. They’re too professional for that. Any attempt to repair the reactors will end up attracting the attention of these hired guns and they’ll swiftly move in to assault anyone attempting to undo their hard work.
G. WILD CARD!
You can make up any situation you want if it doesn’t fit the above scenarios, as long as it fits the theme of the event. Wild animals, rogue robots, whatever you like. If you're unsure on something, feel free to ask the mods! Otherwise, you can do just about anything under this.

"Go on."
His long-suffering voice rumbles not long after. The path deeper into the imploding storefront only became narrower from here. Roadhog wouldn't fit even if he gave enough of a shit to go crawling on his belly over the jagged wreckage, but she will. She will in a heartbeat.
Junkrat being the menace that he was to himself on the job, Roadhog should have been less surprised to find out that only woman who'd chosen to consort with him was more of the same, throwing herself back into the enfolding chaos again and again like she just couldn't get enough.
With a horrific whine, more of the structure breaks free, spilling down from the second floor. As it slams into the top of his burden, Roadhog groans but doesn't flinch.
"Leave 'em if you can't be quick."
no subject
She glances back at him with a scowl at his suggestion to leave anyway, but otherwise immediately throws herself into grabbing and tossing aside the rubble while she still has a little extra strength back.
"We're not leaving anyone behind." Hopefully it'll be a moot point, and she's moving with as much quick efficiency as she can, and while he does look in better shape than she had felt moments ago, she didn't know how long he could continue to hold it aloft.
She didn't knew for herself she had to work quickly to dig through this barrier to get to the people on the other side.

Swaying.
And soon the walls would buckle, floors and ceilings smashing together in a chain reaction he's seen a few times--helped cause a few times. Bombing shit got you lessons in structural integrity, which it didn't take to instinctively know that it wouldn't take much more than one magpie farting to topple this building.
He wasn't planning on waiting around for that. The 60 seconds he stands in silence, watching Fareeha unclog the corridor piece by measly piece are generous as it is. By the last tick, the panicked expressions of the trapped are nearly visible again, peering through whatever gaps they could and crying out. Around the same time - of all the things Roadhog is expecting to come from above them, it isn't the sudden deluge of foamy seawater that commences rushing down in a waterfall-esque display.
"Place is gonna be finished before you are," Roadhog finally snaps. "Try something else."
Again, he'd recommend bailing, but she wasn't having that.
"Punch it, whatever."
no subject
Seeing the faces of those trapped pushes her even more to try and get them out, and with Roadhog snapping behind her and the first cold foamy slaps of sea water, she shoulders her way under a fallen beam and pushes up, groaning with the effort. It's a tiny space that's afforded, a fraction of what she knows she's possible of under better circumstances, but it's something. With forced breath she yells at the survivors to get out, and one by one they crawl past.

Typical damn civvie.
Straining as far forward as he can, Roadhog snatches them by the front of their posh suit, yanking them through the rapids and letting go of them in such a way that the leftover momentum sends them barreling out of the room at quite a rate. Not a single one of the remaining four are spared a hard nudge the moment they step within his reach, if they aren't outright airlifted to their destination, but perhaps it's for the best as the water level continues to rise, rendering it harder and harder for those of lesser mass to resist being pitched into the sharp rebar littering the way.
After the last of them disappears stumbling and flailing into the clear, Roadhog stretches out his free hand again, this time offering it to Fareeha. It's up to her to decide whether or not she wants to accept his help gracefully.

She's not leaving anyone behind.
no subject
And disregards it.
"We're not getting through there at the same time," he states, continuing to reach straight past the hand that's tried to meet his arm in the middle, utterly impassive--like the jet-black lenses that bear blankly in her direction as several thick fingers clamp down onto the meat of her shoulder with vice-like firmness.
It had been a tight enough squeeze just getting inside. He needed the path to be clear, nobody hovering near him to get bowled over by mistake. And it would be slow, the way he was going to have to walk his hands across the ceiling to keep it supported with each step.
She should get going.
With all the delicacy of a crocodile dragging a carcass to the riverbank, Roadhog gives Fareeha a slightly painful but efficient headstart toward the door.

The man is the mission.
The remnants of the house creak ominously, but she holds her position steadfast.

Roadhog appears in the doorframe in wake of it--or at least his mask does, bright yellow filters ratcheting as they spit up a salty half-drizzle, half-mist. His head is the first thing to cross the threshold, followed by an arm that swings around and pushes flat against the adjacent wall, assisting in wedging the rest of him through the mundy-proportioned frame.
It helps that he's drenched now--a little too well. He expects resistance and discovers that there's next to none, only after a zealous attempt to overcome it using brute force like always. The result is the wet frame violently expelling the equally wet, half-naked Junker into the flooded corridor, where he lands on his stomach at Fareeha's feet, or more accurately: where her feet were submerged.
Suddenly, there's water caught inside of his mask all over again, and he swats a hand through the air, preemptively trying to shoo her away as he slowly collects himself, coughing and sputtering.

Turning back, intending on helping Roadhog regardless in the sake of time (an eye for an eye; didn't he just 'assist' her out of the previous room?) when there's a low rumble, felt more than heard, and then a sharp crack as part of the building's foundation gives way. The floor pitches violently to the left, support beams breaking in half and tumbling into the room. Out of instinct Fareeha reaches up to grab one and hold it aloft - but being out of power for the moment and having already exerted herself earlier, her legs buckle under her. With a warning yell towards Roadhog, she disappears in a pile of wood and plaster.
no subject
At least it saves him the trouble of needing to bend down before he can rip the fractured support beam off the top of the heap, which falls to the side with a thud that explodes in his ears, and he continues to dig, splintered boards ricocheting off what's yet to come down on top of them as he flings them away with increasingly less care.
Mako couldn't tell where the rubble ended and Fareeha began.
no subject
At this point, she blends in with the rubble; covered in the dusty gray powder and mud as the water began to rise. But, she is there and in one piece (outwardly, at least) as Roadhog will eventually find.
However, she is knocked cold and unresponsive for the time being, scraped and bruised with a trickle of blood trailing down her cheek. At the very least, she's still alive.
no subject
In the end, it never would have mattered how careful he was anydamnway. Past the final cock-eyed set of double-doors and a block down the road, she's still shaking with every step. His gait was naturally tumultuous, even when there weren't obstacles to be stepped over or kicked out of the way every few feet. Another fifty along the evac route and he finally hears the building fall. That, or any one of a dozen others in his hind-view. Mako doesn't bother looking back, or stop to help anyone else. The only item on his list right now was to find a place to set her down, suss what kind of shape she was in and how godawful the next conversation with Rat was going to be.
Following the flashing lights marking the nearest T-Gate eventually brings him through a plaza that's mostly still level and dry, with nothing towering above it except the cracking dome itself. In the center there was a large fountain, and while the spigots along the upper tiers were no longer flowing, plenty of fresh water still sat in the basin. Roadhog kneels and lays Fareeha out beside the dead fixture, beginning to spoon ice-cold water over to the hidden source of the blood, though it wouldn't take much more than a handful to soak her entire head. A little at a time, he lets it trickle down, first washing away the red streak on her face, then re-wetting her hair and brushing it aside so he can see just how badly she's been brained.
no subject
"Roadhog? What, happened?" Let's start with the obvious.
Her cut is, thankfully, mostly on the superficial side; long, but not deep or wide. The surrounding skin has started to bloom with blue and purple bruising.
no subject
"Cave in," Roadhog answers simply, dumping more water over the caked, dried mud matted along the sides of her suit, in search of anything that might tell him where and how else she's been injured. Though, now that she's awake maybe she can point him in the right direction.
"You got caught in the skull." He pauses a moment, reading the discomfort on her face. "Feels worse than it looks, probably."
Nothing to freak out over just yet.
no subject
She fully intends on getting up, as soon as she can take half a breath. "We've got to keep going, there are still people out there ..." The words come out half-formed and breathy, and it's far more likely that she'll slip back into unconsciousness than rise up for a second try.
no subject
"Still legionnaires out there too," he counters, though there's not much growl to it. His tone is altogether different than his awful snapping from before; it's carefully measured and calm, almost as if this isn't the first time he's had to deal with a wounded charge trying to deliriously stick to their guns. "It's taken care of."
no subject
She puts a hand out to his shoulder, half in an attempt to stop him from stopping her, but also for balance, as she starts to lift off of the fountain's edge. She'd started to snap a retort back, but as she moves and the muscles flex around a bruised rib, she erupts in a new wave of pain and chokes back a yelp, falling back against the edge. Her grip on Roadhog tightens involuntarily before she drops altogether. She takes a few small, shallow breaths as she tries to remain conscious.
"Okay ... point ... taken."
