The planet Olum is a genuinely welcoming place. While the clothes they have to wear for the rituals are a bit...odd (provided they don't opt for coverups), they are comfortable, especially with such a balmy climate. Despite the Olumites allowing outsiders into their ceremonies, there's a distinct lack of tourist-ey elements; no gift shops, no merchants selling anything, just a spirit of genuine unity and celebration. The Olumite marriage guides seem to genuinely care about helping people with their relationships, and seem happy to share their cultural traditions with other species.

As far as missions go, it's definitely a nice vacation from the usual life or death struggles.

It means the Legionnaires have no distractions. They have to settle in and try to navigate this while faking sincerity as best as they can.

"I vote 2B," Tadashi said. "Sorry to put you on the spot, but Miku and I already know each other at least a little. You're new, so I don't know what is and isn't reasonable for you or within your ability to fake for this relationship."

Easy enough. "Let's start from the very beginning. How did the three of us meet and ended up being involved with one another?"

Miku looked at her feet, "Ah..." They'd gone over this, what had they said? "Tadashi and I met first," it would be better to keep it closest to the truth. "We dated a bit and met you. And then..."

[the_civilian]

"...And then you fell in love with me too and we started dating, with Miku's approval," Tadashi said. "And now I'm getting married to both of you, and GoGo is literally going to show up in this reality just to punch me." Okay, that last bit wasn't part of their cover story, but it was an actual concern of his. GoGo punched hard.

"Anything else, or is that the broad strokes?"

[grumpylady]

"None of what we come up with here is going to matter once this is all over. We stick to the plan and get it done." 2B remained largely unphased through it all, having always taken emotions out of the equation for the sake of the mission.

"I'll say that meeting Tadashi was the change in my life that I'd been searching for after so long. And having Miku's approval was big relief as well."

"Well, I suppose that should do it... we can just... make something up, if they try to poke holes into things..." Miku shrugged.

She was quiet for a moment, "Who is GoGo, and what is your favorite thing to eat?" Might as well keep the game up, while they waited to be called up."

"I don't think they're going to try and poke holes in our cover stories," Tadashi said. "We just have to not be obviously shifty." A task which he is currently failing due to blushing.

"Oh, uh, GoGo is a friend of mine from home," he explained. "Mechanical engineering student. She's working on electro-magnetic suspension for vehicles, because she is an adrenaline-fueled speed-demon and her bike 'doesn't go fast enough yet', and she is generally unimpressed with anything that smacks of patriarchal B.S."

He thought for a moment before he answered her second question. "Bear claws. The pastries, not the claws of actual bears. I like the ones with apple filling best. 2B, what's the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?"

[grumpylady]

Bear claws. There was truly no limits to the strangeness of humans and their naming conventions.

"I get dressed and if I'm able to, say good morning to the two of you."

"I think he means, "regularly" and not in our relationship. Um, like. . . do you have a usual thing you do in the morning? Exercise? Breakfast?" Miku clarified.

[the_civilian]

"Both. Both are good," Tadashi said. "Work on our cover story and get to know you as a person. Because that's the polite thing to do, first of all, and it'll also help us -- well, me -- better extrapolate what the answers to some of the questions might be."

[grumpylady]

"I don't know much about food. Androids have no need of it."

Their internal reactors produced all the fuel they required. The rest could be handled with periodic maintenance as well as occasional rest.
