TO HAVE AND TO HOLD [modplot]

Who| Anyone who wants in
What| "To Have and to Hold" plot
Where| The planet Olum, Matihara Temple
When| Set vaguely the same time as "Gods Among Us" and "Other Mother"
Warnings/Notes| N/A

The planet Olum is a genuinely welcoming place. While the clothes they have to wear for the rituals are a bit...odd (provided they don't opt for coverups), they are comfortable, especially with such a balmy climate. Despite the Olumites allowing outsiders into their ceremonies, there's a distinct lack of tourist-ey elements; no gift shops, no merchants selling anything, just a spirit of genuine unity and celebration. The Olumite marriage guides seem to genuinely care about helping people with their relationships, and seem happy to share their cultural traditions with other species.

As far as missions go, it's definitely a nice vacation from the usual life or death struggles.

It means the Legionnaires have no distractions. They have to settle in and try to navigate this while faking sincerity as best as they can.

Clothed beach

2B has walked out into the ocean. Not exceedingly far, but enough so that the water's reaching her waist. She's fully clothed, as well, as she doesn't even know that one is supposed to change clothing when dealing with bodies of water. It doesn't matter much to her, really. Her YoRHa uniform can get wet and it'll be fine. What really stops her from venturing out further is the fact that she actually weighs over three hundred pounds and would sink rather quickly.

Wouldn't be much use to anyone, then.

She continued to stand where she was, until watching someone else floating on by.

Humans sure were light if they could float on the water like that.

Videl was languidly floating on her back in the shallows, close enough in that the rolling surf was more likely to push her onto the sandy beach than pull her out to sea. She allowed the waves to guide her for the most part, employing a few backstrokes here or there to correct her trajectory as needed.

Turning her head to the side, she caught sight of a fully clothed young woman standing waist deep in the water a few feet away. From Videl's perspective, it looked like the woman was contemplating going for a swim.

"Forget your bathing suit?" she asked as she floated into hearing range.

"I don't know what that is. I'm only here to observe since swimming is impossible for me." She was far too heavy to even make the attempt. All that would happen would be that she would sink, and what good to anyone would she be then?

"My current clothes are fine." They'd gotten wet before and why would she need to switch clothes to be in the water to begin with?

"It's only impossible if you never try," Videl replied. She pushed herself upright to face 2B. If Videl hadn't studied the mission roster before leaving Legion World, she wouldn't have recognized 2B as a fellow Legionnaire; it seemed like a number of new displacees had appeared while she wasn't paying attention.

"Have you ever tried to learn?"

"It's impossible because of all the different parts that were used in my body's construction. I'm an android, not a human." Despite the way she looked, she was merely shaped in their image.

"So that's why."

"Really?" Videl looked at 2B thoughtfully, unfazed by the revelation.

"What are you made out of? Are you sensitive to water?" She didn't stop to consider if her searching questions were too invasive. "I know another android where I'm from --well, a cyborg, actually-- and I don't know of her having any problems with water."
