TO HAVE AND TO HOLD [modplot]
Who| Anyone who wants in
What| "To Have and to Hold" plot
Where| The planet Olum, Matihara Temple
When| Set vaguely the same time as "Gods Among Us" and "Other Mother"
Warnings/Notes| N/A
The planet Olum is a genuinely welcoming place. While the clothes they have to wear for the rituals are a bit...odd (provided they don't opt for coverups), they are comfortable, especially with such a balmy climate. Despite the Olumites allowing outsiders into their ceremonies, there's a distinct lack of tourist-ey elements; no gift shops, no merchants selling anything, just a spirit of genuine unity and celebration. The Olumite marriage guides seem to genuinely care about helping people with their relationships, and seem happy to share their cultural traditions with other species.
As far as missions go, it's definitely a nice vacation from the usual life or death struggles.
It means the Legionnaires have no distractions. They have to settle in and try to navigate this while faking sincerity as best as they can.

By the time he's finished and takes a picture with his omnicomm, she's just about figued it out, and when he shows it to her she smiles and nods. Not bad.
"Did you feel I was lopsided?"
But two can play at this game, and she runs her fingers along the stamen and then takes his chin. She looks over his face for a moment, considering, and then starts to sweep the pollen over his forehead. It's detail work, maybe a little more involved than her eye of Horus if just because it's not such a simple symbol, but she's pleased when she finishes. She does him the honor of taking out her omnicomm to snap a picture, then flips it around so he can see. It's a simple design; a line with two circles, a rising sun, and what could be easily mistake for a spork.
"There you go, Set."

But really, he just wanted to see what she would look like with matching eye-markings. Verdict: cute as can be.
He's more than happy to sit still (or rather as still as Junkrat can possibly be) while she does his own face-pollen-paint, patiently waiting with a smile as he quietly enjoys the fact that she's...well, touching him. Someone is touching him and it's not because she's trying to help him, or get him out of harm's way, or get him out of his own way. He's not paying enough attention to the pattern itself to try to figure out what she's drawing, so he eagerly sits back to let her take a picture.
Junkrat is grinning as he looks at the detailed work she's done. He doesn't recognize the symbolism in it at all, but it's cute. He's cute.
He's...
Junkrat sits back a little, deflating in the process and the grin fades. He's got a full head of hair, trimmed but still thick eyebrows, a muted nose, a proportional mouth. Junkrat lets out a mildly sardonic chuckle, forcing out an uncomfortable smile.
"I look pretty good fer once, huh?"

"Good for an Olum standard of beauty. Do we have to have those running here, do you think?" She frowns for a moment, then fiddles with hers to turn it off. Maybe there's a risk if they happen to cross another couples' path, but she didn't think there were guards or video cameras or anything else that might catch them out of costume.

"S'pose we don't have ta," he answers. "Haven't seen anyone since we started the trip."
It's been pretty much their own journey, as if they were the only ones out here, even though that's probably far from the truth considering how busy the temple was otherwise. He brings up his wrist and turns it off, his disguise fading in lieu of sharp angles from all directions. He turns to her, once again, grinning and genuine though not with full enthusiasm.
"Take a better picture this time. One that really captures me essence."

"That's one for the mantle, for sure." She settles back and looks around them, as they're sitting inside a giant flower. "I guess we could do the ritual, if you're ready." Since they've already kind of dabbled in it.

Are they supposed to do this to themselves, or...?
Eh, hell with it. Junkrat reaches out and places his hands on Fareeha's shoulders to cover her skin with a thin veneer of metallic dust.

"Definitely one of the stranger bonding excersizes I've ever done."

Fareeha can't help but notice how relaxed he's being about this, and the change from the previous night. It's a bit of a silly, fun thing, but certainly not like anything she's done in the past. She trails her fingers down his cheek and across his neck. On the other side of it, she's more acutely aware of their position compared to their time in the hot tub.
"We're going to be tracking this stuff everywhere when we get back."

He leans into her touch, but he doesn't move this hand while he works on the arm that this hand belongs to.
"This is how plants pollinate, innit? Getting their pollen all over somethin' else more mobile. We're oversized bees in this picture, yeah? Hey, what if that's what this whole thing is about--the locals ended up in a symbiotic relationship with the true apex lifeform on this planet and designed an entire marriage ritual to sate the reproductive demands of these formerly carnivorous plants?!"
Junkrat lets go of Fareeha to open his arms out, facing towards the center of the flower as if to regard the plant it's attached to.
"I, fer one, welcome our new floral overlords!"
