"After These Messages" finale

Who| "After These Messages" plot finale
What| Facing the Executive and getting the page
Where| The Affiliate's Headquarters
When| At the end of the plot
Warnings/Notes| N/A

This is a multi-pronged attack, which means the Indies are engaging the Affiliate's security shock troops, the Censors, to draw some heat away from the Legionnaires.

There's only so much they can do, though, which is why the team has to split up slightly to accomplish their task. There are three teams:

Distraction Team

This team is going to engage the Executive directly and try to destroy it. If they can't defeat it, they need to at least keep it occupied long enough for the other teams to do their work, and then have to cut and run.

Stealth Team Alpha

One stealth team has to infiltrate the Affiliate's headquarters to steal back the piece of Metron's throne, currently disguised as a page from the Book of Magic.

Stealth Team Beta

Another team has to cut off the media feeds so that the Executive can't feed on them for strength, and try to cut off the Affiliate from broadcasting them to the public.

The logic behind display cases has always baffled Wash. 'Yes, here's something shiny and ridiculously valuable, so let's put it out where God and everybody can access it instead of putting it in a high-security vault.' He could make an exception for museums and art, but powerful magical artifacts should probably be under lock and key when not in use.

But hey, if someone else's ego and shitty logic make his life easier, he's all for it.

Getting in the building is not the most difficult thing he's ever had to do. Taking care of the Censors is slightly higher on that list, but the Indies had a silencer he was able to fit to his pistol, so even that wasn't too terrible. Every Censor he's brought down (with stun ammunition, because contrary to popular belief, he's not a complete monster - and he needs to start carrying more stun ammo for long-term away missions, as this particular mission is starting to prove) has been bound, gagged, divested of all comm equipment, and shoved out of the way somewhere - in closets, unused studios, and the occasional bathroom stall when the occasion arose. Before anyone can sound the alarm, they've made it to the private collection room.

He pauses outside the door and glances back at the rest of the team. "Remember the plan: in and out, as quickly and quietly as possible. Then we grab the other two teams and get the hell out of here." Regardless of whether or not the distraction team has finished off the Executive, because priorities are priorities - not that Wash has shared that particular thought with anyone since the plans were made and set into action.

Things behind glass cases don't bother Dick. Mostly because Batman has quite a few cases in the Batcave. Sentimental stuff, of course, or reasons to flagellate himself more, but it means he's good at scanning for what they need.

He's good at getting the guys down at Wash's side, usually with a well-placed taser or a quick chokehold. He tends to prefer more hands on ways of handling the knock outs. He also had brought a lot of the ties and gags with him. After all, it's easier to bring a bunch of stuff with you when it's tucked away in an extradimentional pocket.

He nods to Wash, getting into position. "Yeah, got it." While he's all for taking out the Executive, he also knows that there are more important things.

Besides. They can always come back and deal with it later. With more back up.
