Who| Jason and the Beachwarmers
What| Going camping! Making friends! A mixed thing, just do whatever and have fun.
Where| On a private island owned by R.J. Brande.
When| Post Naltor and Mystery Plots, pre-next plot
Warnings/Notes| None yet

All in all, the beach itself is gorgeous. Clear waters, a perfect temperature, white sand, some nice, shady woods deeper in on the island... It all looks fantastic, like it came off of a postcard. There's not a hint of land off in the distance, but they can get a threshold gate if the need arises.

Jason honestly didn't plan much out. He's packed for different activities, like food (sadly lacking in hot dogs), sun lotion, drinks (though if you wanted something alcoholic, you'll be disappointed), a beach ball, a volleyball with a net setup, some tents, and some snorkeling gear, all pre-staged on the island. He tried to cover a bunch of activities, but he really didn't have much of an idea of how many people would be showing up or what they'd want to do, so he just prepped for the most possible.

If they day is crisp and beautiful, the night is something else entirely. Still perfectly warm, by the time the Legionnaires have worn themselves out, the stars are out in force. With no light pollution around, the night sky is full of colors and stars, with the visible portion of the Milky Way cutting a majestic arc across the sky. Night swimming is still available, the water's fine and the camp fire is visible for a long way.

[[Whoops, I'd meant to post this on Saturday, but time got away from me. I thought about setting up activities and such, but decided that it'd be best just to let people come up with whatever. If it involves gear of some kind, feel free to handwave that Jason took care of it. There's a few different activity headers put up, so feel free to tag around or post a separate starter if you have any further ideas or want to do something else!

If you didn't tag here, don't worry about it. We can handwave any of that in favor of the main action here.

and now posted in the correct community. Whoops again.

"Sure thing. I'll put you down."

Just not yet.

He knew she wouldn't risk kicking him, not with those super jumps. And he planned on making this quick enough that she wouldn't get a chance to try to push away from him with superstrength.

Nick turned towards the ocean and sprinted towards it. Back before he'd gone to the academy, he'd been a pretty quick runner. Sometimes you had to be quick to escape a con gone bad. But after the academy, and all those miserable goes at the ice wall, he was pretty damn fleet-footed. It was all part of the job.

So he sprinted to the edge of the water in just a few seconds and jumped out into the surf, until the water was about waist deep for the both of them. Then he dumped her into the water and held both arms out.

"You said to put you down. You never said whe--"

A fuzzy grey hand reached out of the water and grabbed his shirt, yanking him down with just the slightest bit of superstrength.

"Next time don't stop to gloat," she said, smirking at him.

And down he went, under the water so that he was completely soaked, too, even worse than before.

When he surfaced again, he just shook his head at her, his ears flicking off water.

"You. You. Are. Just --"

He let out a noise that was half frustration, half laughter, and started splashing furiously in her direction, trying to hit her with an unyielding barrage of water.

There was a part of him that briefly tsked over him acting like a hyperactive kit, instead of keeping his cool. (He was supposed to be cool and aloof dammit!)

But another part of him, the part of him that was pretty much down for even the most ridiculous things Judy dragged him into just said "GET HER."

Finally. It took a lot of effort to get Nick to drop his cooler than thou act and goof around, but it was totally worth it. Judy splashed him back, laughing with him all the whole

They'd probably never hear the end of it if anyone on the force had seen them, but this was fun, no matter what anyone else thought.

She opened her mouth to remark on just how similar she thought the omnicoms were to cell phones, but found herself suddenly the unwitting recipient of an impromptu lecture on technology. Videl was momentarily inclined to listen for the sake of being polite to a teammate, but thought better of it when she remembered how long Gohan could ramble about technological stuff that she neither understood nor cared about.

"- then they're having signal failure just to spite you," Videl finished. She shrugged and grinned. "Even all this fancy future tech can't make cell phones any less annoying."

There was a large black animal bobbing around in the water, its head occasionally popping out of the ocean with a very obvious mouthful of fish. Anybody who'd run into Toothless before would likely recognize him. Those who hadn't might have some concerns about the safety of Hiccup, who was sitting down with his foot and stump in the water.

They kept splashing each other viciously until a rogue wave suddenly knocked them off their feet and dragged them a little deeper into the ocean. Fortunately, it was just a stray one and the undertow wasn't that bad, but it pulled them deep enough to almost be over Judy's head -- but not Nick's.

So he reached out to grab her around the waist with both arms, making sure she stayed afloat without having to tread water.

His ears flicked water off again but it was pretty useless when his fur was soaked all the way through and plastered down.

"I think technically the ocean just won. Technically."

Taking a break from the beach-ness of it all, Gwen decided to head out into the woods. Why? No reason other than the fact that there were woods and she just wanted to check them out. She'd brought her backpack along, stuffing her suit and web-slingers inside just in case she end up needing them.

Look, it's not paranoia if it actually happens.

Anyways, through the woods she continued to go. And if anybody else wanted to tag along, she'd be happy to let them come with. You know, until she got tired of the woods... beings woods and largely uninteresting.

Gwen was doing about the same thing, really. She was just going through some old messages and pictures. Thinking about home, about her dad, about the band. But definitely not thinking about how great it would be if she got pelted from behind with a water balloon.

And yet, there was the impact, and there was her back getting soaked. At least she was still in swimwear, and her phone-turned-omnicom was now waterproof, too. Another major plus because Gwen would be having a serious meltdown right now if Brainiac hadn't souped it up like he did.

Back to the part about the water balloon, though.

"Why." She asked out loud. "Out of everyone here, you just had to pick someone who wasn't even doing anything. So... I ask you again. Why?!"

"Technology doesn't do spite."

Although, given that they were in the future, with intelligent robots and stuff.

"Er, non-sentient technology doesn't do spite. I don't know if the Roboticans here do that or not, now that I think about it."

S'mores. Hell yeah.

Oh right, back to actual introductions and socialization.

"Alright, well... I'm Gwendolyne Stacy, but pretty much everybody out there just calls me Gwen. I'm from Queens, New York, over in Earth-65. I'm a drummer with my friends for their band, The Mary Janes. And we're popular enough to have download numbers thrown at us in news interviews." A bit more than they might actually play venues in somewhere other than New York.

Hey, it could totally happen. Probably.

"Never really take the time to practice martial arts, myself. But I did watch a bunch of movies, so I figure that's almost as good as the real thing." That was her story and she was sticking by it. "I'm my universe's Spider-Woman, which means I stick to walls and kick all sorts of butt."

"Right?! We're in a future that's so advanced from just about anything we've ever seen in our own worlds... But we still can't get a decent signal out on the beach?" Gwen was upset about this.

Very upset.

Videl was just here for a nice relaxing swim in frigid ocean water. Climate controlled pools were great and all, but they had nothing on the cold, merciless ocean. Half the struggle of survival swimming in an emergency situation was dealing with cold shock, and Videl wanted to test her limits. (And also, it wouldn't hurt if her boyfriend noticed how great this swimsuit looked on her. He wasn't usually perceptive of these things.)

Her plan was all well all good until she reached the shoreline and saw the large black -- dinosaur? Reptile? Winged…. thing? -- frolicking in the surf. The sight gave her pause. Sure, she'd seen dinosaurs before back home -- but not frequently, since she grew up in cities and dinosaurs seemed to shy away from civilization.

Not far from Videl, closer to the creature than her, lounged a man she recognized only as a fellow Legionnaire. “You not scared of the wildlife?” she ventured.

"It's not like it runs off a regular satellite signal to begin with, so being in the middle of nowhere shouldn't actually matter. But I can't find anything wrong with it..."

Sam, sitting next to Gwen, is next in the circle.

It takes him a few long seconds to notice because he's preoccupied with cramming a s'more into his mouth, but after a moment, he realizes he's being looked at, awkwardly chews a few more times, and swallows.

"Uh. I'm Sam Alexander. Or Nova, I do the superhero thing back home too - my power is energy manipulation. I'm from Carefree, Arizona. You haven't heard of it."

It's tiny and unimportant. Nobody knows Carefree.

"I skateboard, I like sports..." He shrugs. "My life's really not that exciting outside of the hero stuff."

The whats? Videl raised a disbelieving brow at the thought of a rank-and-file army of chrome robots a la old comic books that the name 'Roboticans' conjured in her imagination. She held off on remarking about that.

"I dunno about that," she offered skeptically, half to continue baiting him and half out of sincere believe that technology liked to be a dick whenever it damned well pleased. "Why else would my computer go out in the middle of the night while I'm writing an essay that's due the next day?" For every time that happened to her, it had happened five times to Erasa.

"It's a sham," says Grif, nudging one of the offending not-hotdogs with the spatula. "I don't know if it's tofu or what, but this is not meat. It's like the enterprising spirit of humanity went out into space, stopped eating animals, and died. What a legacy to lose."

"Here it is." He took a sip of his beer and raised both of his eyebrows. "It's nice actually having half a minute to enjoy it."

The Legion kept them awful busy, just like things in their own universes kept them busy. But their organization meant things were definitely different.

"Remember how I was saying I wanted to organize things with the heroes back home? I still wanna do that. Look how busy we are with the Legion, but we still have a minute to catch our breath, you know? Because if something goes wrong, they can just buzz us and we can threshold up to Legion World and ship out in minutes."

"It's sometimes a thing but it's generally considered something that evokes hurtful stereotype about feline-canine relations."

The fact these humans would make up all this stuff about imaginary mammal people was weird.

"Why would you have these stories about people like us? We don't have any stories about imaginary pink people."

Thad looks rather baffled by that logic.

He hadn't really touched much of the food here, the marshmallows were too sweet and he didn't really have a taste for most meat, even if it wasn't the real deal. He'd never really had much of a fondness for hotdogs, in particular, so maybe he was just missing something here?

"I don't understand. If all of those traits feel the 'right', how is it not the same? Is your only problem with it that you have to actually know that it's not meat?"

"Can I try to set it on fire, pleeease?" Dipper said, pointing to the beers. "I'll do it in the sand. So I don't set the island on fire."

He knew that was important. A lack of arson.
