IN BRIGHTEST DAY - Mod Plot [LOG POST | 1 | THE RINGS CHOOSE]

Who| Everyone participating in the plot
What| Finding the lost Lanterns and getting Lantern rings
Where| The remains of the sentient, once-living planet Mogo, at the edge of the galaxy
When| After the network post
Warnings/Notes| N/A for now.

Their little adventure took them to the edge of the galaxy. Towards the end, they couldn't even use the threshold gates anymore, due to star-weights and gravity wells crushing and constructing the way there. Instead, they had to rely on the stargate abilities of their ringwielding allies.

Their journey ended in a strange and beautiful nebula at the very edge of the galaxy, one that had swirling gases in blue and green and violet and indigo. There, they found a dead, broken planet, the remains of the being once named Mogo, with four ancient structures.

The Green Lantern Central Power Battery. The Central Power Battery of the Star Sapphires -- the violet Lanterns. The Blue Lantern Central Power Battery. The Indigo Tribe Central Power Battery.

And in piles and piles around these ancient sources of power...were rings. Countless rings in all four colors. All without owners.

"Who dares disturb the resting site of the Green Lantern Corps?" an ominous voice said from the shadows after they landed.

"We come in peace," called out Kid Quantum. "Several groups of ringwielders were pulled against their will into this universe from a time and place when the War of Light was still ongoing. Some of those ringwielders were from the red and yellow Lantern Corps. Those who wear rings of green, violet, blue, and indigo, want to stop them from reigniting the war in this universe. They want to capture the red and yellow Lanterns and take them back home to their universe and time."

"And who are you?" the man asked.

"Kid Quantum, of the Legion of Superheroes. The Legion protects the people of this galaxy, the citizens of the United Planets, and we offered our aid to these displaced Lanterns. We heard that remnants of the Corps that were allied against the Red and Yellow Lanterns possibly existed on the edges of the galaxy. We've come seeking your help."

"It does my heart glad to learn of you," the voice said slowly. "We wondered if anyone else had ever risen up to take our place. But we had to stay here, to guard the last remnants, to watch over the Power Batteries and the rings. To make sure they were never used again. With the various Corps gone, anyone seeking them would only have wanted to misuse them."

The man stepped out of the shadows and now he glowed with the light of his green ring.

"I am Sodam Yat." He gestured to two other glowing figures that joined him. One was just a teeny speck of light, as if the being was normally too small to be seen by the naked eye. This was because the Lantern was a benevolent, superintelligent smallpox virus. The other was a battered robot that used his ring's energy in replacement of some of his parts.

"This is Leezle Pon." The speck. "And Stel." The robot. "We're the last of the Green Lanterns."

He looked at the Lanterns the Legion had traveled with and was clearly overcome with emotion at seeing faces that were, for him, 1000 years gone.

"I never dreamed that this could happen." He inclined his head at them all. "It's wonderful to be able to welcome you home."

Aizawa stuck to his light-contruct of a sleeping bag, hovering beside Jason. Hopefully, he hadn't scared the young man with his training regimen yet--as he was sure the young man would probably be able to find some profit in it given what was to come.

He listened as Jason spoke to himself in the fashion of a crazy person, saying nothing to interrupt him.

"Is that your custom hero uniform?" When Jason changed his outfit entirely, Aizawa felt a touch curious.

Whether or not Aizawa's training regimen had mentally scarred him, it was pretty hard to be intimidated by a guy who used the most powerful weapon in the universe to wrap himself up in a sleeping bag.

Still.

He glanced up at the question. Ah, right. Not famous heroes here. He shook his head and flexed his hands, testing the feel of the ring-generated outfit. It didn't feel quite right, but the more he focused on that, the more the outfit felt like his old uniform. "No. The red one's the only uniform I have here. But there is... Was a hero back home that wore this." Jason crossed his arms over his chest, shrugging. "I just, y'know. If I'm going to be wearing his color, it feels right to honor him. You know?"

"I suppose it's fine," Aizawa began. He wasn't aware that Jason had any fallen comrades and despite his words he wasn't entirely sure this fellow was dead or not. It was reasonable to assume that Jason, like any other human being, had suffered his own losses. Anyone willing to try and be a hero should have been prepared for that sort of eventuality.

"A red outfit wouldn't benefit you here, anyway," Aizawa lifted a little juice pack out of his sleeping back and shoved the straw into the corner of his mouth. "I suppose I should say I'm glad to hear you're making that sort of decision. It reflects positively on you."

He added, sternly.

"Though, try to add in practicality to the uniform if at all possible. Honoring someone is a good gesture, but don't forget to set up for acquiring the necessary tools. That ring is a good tool, but even one's imagination may not be the best thing to use."

Jason hadn't meant to give the impression that he was talking about a comrade at all, but he is, in the end, a rather terrible liar. Fortunately for his own nerves, he wasn't capable of guessing Aizawa's suspicions.

"Thanks. I think." He wasn't exactly sure what he could add to the outfit to make it more practical, but practicality had honestly never been a concern back home. He'd made a request for a blaster, but the paperwork hadn't gone through on that yet. Still, it would probably be bright to use the standard Legion utility belts.

He was silent for a moment, letting it hang in the air. It was still weird, even after a few months, being around adult heroes. Or people who had been at this longer than him. He couldn't ask if Aizawa was nervous at all, it would just be awkward talking to an adult on that level.

"Don't worry about it," He reached up to scratch his head from within the sleeping bag. Aizawa even unzipped it a little to expose his arms and shoulders. For the most part, Jason had given him a good impression, but that meant little when Aizawa himself was terrible when it came to giving positive reinforcement in casual conversations. He often-times had to come right out and tell others when he approved of their choices and, sometimes, it barely pulled through.

He was too morose, sedated and apathetic. Even he was aware of that much. Even so, before a big fight, he supposed Jason needed more than that.

"I'm going to keep giving you advice like that. I won't give you praise until I see results," He nodded his head and shut his eyes. The gesture was meant to look respectful. "I can tell what kind of person you are, but I don't mind being pleasantly surprised, too. Do your best to surprise me, Jason."

For what was coming up, Aizawa hoped for the best.
