IN BRIGHTEST DAY - Mod Plot [LOG POST | 1 | THE RINGS CHOOSE]

Who| Everyone participating in the plot
What| Finding the lost Lanterns and getting Lantern rings
Where| The remains of the sentient, once-living planet Mogo, at the edge of the galaxy
When| After the network post
Warnings/Notes| N/A for now.

Their little adventure took them to the edge of the galaxy. Towards the end, they couldn't even use the threshold gates anymore, due to star-weights and gravity wells crushing and constructing the way there. Instead, they had to rely on the stargate abilities of their ringwielding allies.

Their journey ended in a strange and beautiful nebula at the very edge of the galaxy, one that had swirling gases in blue and green and violet and indigo. There, they found a dead, broken planet, the remains of the being once named Mogo, with four ancient structures.

The Green Lantern Central Power Battery. The Central Power Battery of the Star Sapphires -- the violet Lanterns. The Blue Lantern Central Power Battery. The Indigo Tribe Central Power Battery.

And in piles and piles around these ancient sources of power...were rings. Countless rings in all four colors. All without owners.

"Who dares disturb the resting site of the Green Lantern Corps?" an ominous voice said from the shadows after they landed.

"We come in peace," called out Kid Quantum. "Several groups of ringwielders were pulled against their will into this universe from a time and place when the War of Light was still ongoing. Some of those ringwielders were from the red and yellow Lantern Corps. Those who wear rings of green, violet, blue, and indigo, want to stop them from reigniting the war in this universe. They want to capture the red and yellow Lanterns and take them back home to their universe and time."

"And who are you?" the man asked.

"Kid Quantum, of the Legion of Superheroes. The Legion protects the people of this galaxy, the citizens of the United Planets, and we offered our aid to these displaced Lanterns. We heard that remnants of the Corps that were allied against the Red and Yellow Lanterns possibly existed on the edges of the galaxy. We've come seeking your help."

"It does my heart glad to learn of you," the voice said slowly. "We wondered if anyone else had ever risen up to take our place. But we had to stay here, to guard the last remnants, to watch over the Power Batteries and the rings. To make sure they were never used again. With the various Corps gone, anyone seeking them would only have wanted to misuse them."

The man stepped out of the shadows and now he glowed with the light of his green ring.

"I am Sodam Yat." He gestured to two other glowing figures that joined him. One was just a teeny speck of light, as if the being was normally too small to be seen by the naked eye. This was because the Lantern was a benevolent, superintelligent smallpox virus. The other was a battered robot that used his ring's energy in replacement of some of his parts.

"This is Leezle Pon." The speck. "And Stel." The robot. "We're the last of the Green Lanterns."

He looked at the Lanterns the Legion had traveled with and was clearly overcome with emotion at seeing faces that were, for him, 1000 years gone.

"I never dreamed that this could happen." He inclined his head at them all. "It's wonderful to be able to welcome you home."

The ring spoke:

[HICCUP HORRENDOUS HADDOCK III, OF EARTH. YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO FEEL GREAT COMPASSION. WELCOME TO THE INDIGO TRIBE.]

The indigo light had a way of warping the mind slightly, drawing a person into being even more influenced by their sense of compassion. For those with little compassion, it was strong enough to change their entire nature. It also filled the user's mind with the strange language the Indigo Tribe used, to use alongside their own native language.

Along with the ring and the new language, each member of the Indigo Tribe also received a staff that allowed them to redirect ring energy, one that was round at the top, with a hole that projected indigo light.

Like all those accepted into the Indigo Tribe, his costume changed to be mostly indigo, with the symbol of the Indigo Tribe emblazoned somewhere on his person. It also changed to be sliiightly more revealing. Most of the Indigo Tribe wore loinclothes as part of their uniforms. Fortunately, like all of those accepted into the Corps, he'd find that he had the ability to change said costume.

Blacks and greens darkened to a more solid black, reds and browns turned indigo, and Hiccup's chest armor and pants disappeared, leaving him in only gloves, boots, pauldrons, and a loincloth. The symbol of the tribe was painted on his chest with brightly colored body paint.

Toothless broke out into honking laughter.

"Yeah no, this is not happening." Hiccup squeaked in embarrassment.

Cue the laughter.

Dipper had gotten a perfectly respectable green so of course he was going to laugh at Hiccup's weird loincloth...thing.

"They really take that 'tribe' thing seriously." He looked perplexed. "Which is stupid because there are lots of different tribes and not all of them wear loincloths? I guess maybe this one does, but making everyone wear them when it's not their culture seems kind of arbitrary."

The green rings seemed to make the costumes very customizable and it'd just greenwashed his own costume rather than giving him a new one.

"I'm so glad both of you find this amusing." Hiccup mock glared at both Dipper and Toothless, before restoring his armor, the symbol moving to his smaller left pauldron.

"And speaking as someone from a tribe, anyone wearing that on Berk would freeze to death."

Hiccup turned to Toothless.

"And what ring did you get?" he joked, reaching up to scritch Toothless' head. "I bet you're going to be a violet. And hey, that all works out! You're already naked."

That seemed to be the shtick with the costumes, woofta. Most of the violet Lanterns they were allied with didn't seem to be fond of clothes.

Toothless was an Alpha. He was naturally resistant to most form of draconic mind control. With Hiccup's help, he fought off a Bewilderbeast's song, and then proceeded to fight off the Bewilderbeast itself.

Therefore, it shouldn'tve been much of a surprise when a green ring slipped its way onto one of his claws.

"Huh. Wow, those rings can really expand to any size can't they?"

His claws were kind of big and it'd just gone shwooop and slipped right on.

"That means you have uncrushable, uncompromising willpower. Yes, you do. Yes, you dooo," Dipper said, scritching Toothless' head and under his jaw.

He turned to Hiccup.

"You know, since me and him match with the same color ring, obviously that means I should ride him during this fight."

One of these days. One of these days he was going to get to ride a dragon.
