THE RIMBORIAN JOB [modplot]
Who| Open to everyone in the plot (players can have 1 character participate)
What| A very snazzy heist
Where| The New Jersey Casino, on the crime planet Rimbor
When| After all the media shenanigans, before "Valor's Day."
Warnings/Notes| None! Just some good clean larcenous fun!

The theft of the artifact has been explained, the mission objectives have been given to all participants, the useful tech has been handed out, the facial holograms are on to obscure everyone's identities as Legionnaires, and everyone has been provided wardrobes by the Athramites to allow them all to dress to the nines. All participants are also linked together with Brainiac 5 and Kid Q, and with each other, via their telepathic earplugs, allowing them to synchronize their respective tasks.
Amidst the backdrop of flashing lights and holograms, the teams have a soundtrack of the casino's beeps, boops, holo-displays, and ringing noises, but if there was an actual soundtrack, for real, it probably would sound a little like...this.
Sometimes justice can't be bought or sold, but in this case, there's nothing stopping them from stealing it.

Granted, he doesn’t exactly specify what kind of property damage, but suffice to say he’s better at that than playing poker or randomly making out with a stranger. Sorry, Dave. 76 is already moving quickly towards the aforementioned waitress with too many glasses—just as he brushes past her, he ‘trips’, grabbing her arm on the way down.
The tray goes flying, and all of a sudden a not insignificant portion of the casino floor is all spilled drinks and broken glass, 76 having picked a more populated area to cause as much collateral damage as possible. People at slot machines are suddenly covered in sprite and alcohol, and the waitress goes down in such a way that she even causes a chain reaction between a few more patrons. The noise is enough to grab the attention of people who avoided the carnage, guards included.
Definitely better than making out with a random stranger.

Rather than comment on that, however, Dave actually gets to work. 76 certainly caused a scene, and most patrons in the area have stopped what they were doing to look, the majority of them not even trying to be sneaky about it. It's the best chance he's gonna get.
The guard he'd been watching was moving towards the disturbance, and Dave sidles up behind him quickly before the guard could press forward into the growing crowd. He waits until he's within an arm's length of the guy, and then--
tick tick tick ti
The guard, as well as the guests most immediately surrounding him, comes to a sudden halt, timelocked in place. Not even breathing, which of course isn't actually harmful to a body which isn't experiencing the flow of time in which a lack of oxygen would actually be a problem. Nice.
Dave pauses for a moment -- just for a second, because damn doing this is kind of a huge strain, he can feel it sapping at his enegy and building a slight headache right behind his eyes -- just to glance about and make sure no one's watching him or noticing anything odd. Then he presses up close to the guy, leaning around him like a kid trying to get a glimpse of the mess 76 caused, and slips a hand into the guard's pocket to palm his access card. No need to be delicate about it, the dude isn't aware of anything.
Soon as that's done, Dave leans back away and releases his mental grip on the flow of time around him. The guard continues forward at the same pace he'd been moving at before, pushing through the crowd to see just what the ruckus was about.
Slipping the card into his own pocket surreptitiously, Dave joins in with the rest of the crowd trying to see what exactly 76 did. It looks less suspicious than trying to sneak away from the mass of people, anyway, and hey, he's curious.

More people arrive on the scene and the whole thing gets commandeered by casino staff, and 76 takes that as his cue to leave. As soon as the attention is on the poor tripped waitress and patrons instead of him, he slips out of the crowd fairly deftly for someone of his size. He makes a beeline towards Dave's last location, sidling up against slot machines and following the line of them until the guard post is in sight.
"Over here."
