Out With the Old [modplot]
Who| Everyone who signed up
What| The rescue of the NPC Legionnaires
Where| A movie studio in New New York
When| Takes place the same time as "Books of Magic"
Warnings/Notes| N/a
The studio where the Legionnaires are being held is swarming with supervillains. It's a trap, of course. But that doesn't mean they have to walk right into it. They have a plan, and now it's time to put it into action.
The Legion of Supervillains are expecting the non-native Legionnaires to be pushovers. They're about to discover just how crushingly, devastatingly wrong they are.

BOSS BATTLE (Open to multiple groups!)
For example, those entering the media room might suddenly find that all the cameras have turned to them of their own accord, though the crew otherwise appears blissfully unaware of you. The lights seem to be flickering just out of your range of vision, enough to know that its happening, but not at a frequent enough interval to do anything other than drive you crazy with being unable to predict when it happens.
Those outside might find that the automatic doors into the studio only open when nobody is looking at them, and that their reflections seem to be giggling back at them when they are. The birds don't chirp, but make other strange sounds -- like meows, whinnies -- general sounds birds shouldn't be able to make.
There is one root for all of these goings on, and he seems content to just join the party with a sudden pop of magic. He's a large, snake-like creature made up of several animals -- a horse's head, antlers, a lion's paw and an eagle's set of talons, a dragon's wing with a feathered brother. He makes about as much sense as everything going on around them.
"Good nooning, heroes! How's the weather been, huh? Can you believe I've been stuck in this stuffy studio all day? Ugh!"
Almost on cue, it begins to rain literal cats and dogs that seem to just bounce off the pavement in confusion when they collide with it.
"Oh and uh, just between you and me, I wouldn't go in there, if I were you."
[ooc: Discord will be escaping to cause further havoc down the line, but might be convinced to help the heroes if he's offered something more entertaining in return. Otherwise, he's just going to keep messing with the heroes. :') Good luck!]

Tex had been cloaked when Discord started up with his mischief, and she has no idea how he noticed her, but she responds to his challenge by going visible and leveling her gun in his direction. "Do I look like I give a damn?" she asks. She's not going to question the other nonsense that has happened; he's clearly involved, somehow.
no subject
Its almost refreshing, to be dealing with a physical weapon instead of a magical one. At once, all of the cats and dogs that had bounced harmlessly off the pavement stand and turn to look at Tex, their dazed glances immediately turning into menacing snarls as they close the circle around them.
Discord, for his part, looks around like he has nothing to do with what's going on--but his hands, despite being up in surrender, are poised in preparation to snap off a spell.
"Let's start over, shall we?"
no subject
She's close, though, very close, to simply firing her weapon, or clubbing him over the head with the butt of it. She doesn't have the time to waste on some kind of power struggle.

"I am Discord. Someone got up on the right side of the bed this morning," he chortles. "And now its your turn. See how fun this is?"
For all of his act, he's already seen what those metal beasts the humans called 'guns' could do, and he has no intention of giving her a free shot if he can help it. Two of the fluffier dogs close in on either side of Discord.
"I don't have to hurt you, you know. Just like you don't have to make an incredibly unintelligent decision with that death stick of your's!"
sorry lost this notif
"All I see is someone trying to stop me from doing what I came here to do," she says. "And I don't like being interrupted."
all good, i'm in the middle of con crunch
The dogs leap for Tex's gun and the cats scatter in terror, aiming to pull it out of her hands before she is able to fire on them while Discord floats to lay on his stomach and observe.
"Sorry, mademoiselle, but all work and no play makes for a dull life! You let me know when you're ready to relax."

what happens when you put two tricksters in a room together
"Eso es nuevo..."
Finally, here attention settles on Discord himself, determining him to be the supposed source of this chaos. "Didn't remember taking any hardcore drugs this morning."
A beat, and then: "Tell me I'm not hallucinating here."
CHAOS! PANIC! DISORDER! YAY!
Discord seems pleased that Sombra has chosen to approach him, rather than pull a gun on him. No wonder the Legion of Supervillains had such an easy time taking this place! So quick to take shortcuts.
"Have you never heard of when it rains cats and dogs? It happens all the time! Look how cute they are."
One kitten in particular meows pathetically behind Sombra, laying on its side in the most enticing manner possible.
no subject
Which, considering the fact that this is already as weird as it gets (and possibly not real), manages to convince Sombra to stoop down and give in: picking up the little thing and stroking it behind its ears.
Never let anyone in the world believe Sombra actually has a soft spot for the little things."What are you?"
no subject
"I, on the other hand, am Discord," he replies, purposefully coiling up on his own tail and leaning back against the lamp post he'd been standing near. "The others have told me they've never heard of a Draconequus before. How odd. Then again, I suppose I've never seen your sort before I came around these parts either. Life is just full of surprises and merriment."
He snaps his fingers and the clouds start to clear. The dogs and cats continue to mingle and raise a confused cacophony in the streets.
1/2
She loves it.
2/2
"Discord." She repeats, still absently stroking that kitten
because of course she does. "Sounds less like a name and more like a calling card."But if that really is his entire deal? Sombra doesn't exactly sound offended by it. "I go by Azúcar. And I think you already know why I'm here."
no subject
As if to make his point, he snaps his fingers again. The person nearest them suddenly cries out in surprise, and if Sombra turns around, she might notice that the grocery bags they've been carrying is suddenly full of startled woodland creatures rabidly attempting to tear free of their package prisons.
While he spends a moment chuckling at her expense, he glances back down to Sombra, mollified slightly.
"Oh don't tell me -- you're not with those tightwads, are you? Say it ain't so."
no subject
Speaking of which...
"Lo siento mucho, dragón. We've all got our parts to play in this." With a gentle sort of care, Sombra lifts the little kitten up onto her shoulder to let it clamber around, her own clawed fingers turning back towards the panel in front of her - nearing the end of her efforts in bringing down remote security failsafes.
"You don't seem so bad to me, though."
no subject
"De lo contrario, I don't play any part, you see. Sure, there's rules, if you want to call them that -- but not really," he replies, clapping his hands so all the animals disappear save for the cat that had taken a liking to Sombra.
"For example, the technical rule you're meant to be following is...?" he presents his lion paw to her, wiggling each claw individually, like he's handing her freedom on a platter. "Come on now, how badly do you really want to get in there?"
no subject
"The rule I'm following? No murder." And what a shame it is.
Her eyes slide over to watch his paw as he wiggles them as enticingly as possible, which is as absurd as it is charming. There's a low little scoff; she keeps her fingers to the keys. With an hour to get in, get out and get this done, making sure none of the senior Legionnaires die on intergalactic television.
"You're still one of them." It's not an argument she likes to make, but Sombra (more than most) is intimately familiar with the limitations that come from taking sides.
"Whether you like it or not, that means they're using you to kill people. You know that, right?"
no subject
Discord clears his throat and follows it with another sigh. The action, of course, causes each finger press that Sombra engages to initiate a very annoying sound.
"One of them, oh please," Discord grunts, rolling his paw back to snap his fingers. The cat chirps in surprise, but reappears as a blue tabby, coated in electric blue stripes. It also proceeds to hop into his waiting paw, and so he strokes it idly with the other hand -- an eagle's. "They don't put a leash on me and call it friendship, sweetheart -- or even a paycheck! That's the only difference."
He settles his arms across his chest so the cat can sit between them and meow pathetically over at Sombra.
"You're not happy. Believe me -- I can tell."
no subject
"Well I'm not now."
Not with that noise coming from her efforts. Or from that view of how he's changed the kitten to match her appearance, which 1: amazing, and 2: entirely unfair. Couple that with his talk of being leashed, and Sombra's mood is on a slow, sliding decline.
"But you could do both, if you wanted to."

There were so many dogs.
Real dogs, it seemed like. Not like the magehounds Sin had shown her. But were they actually really? They were being created so frequently by Discord and she didn't recall dogs to be able to bounce like that.
Still, Ram can't really help herself, and she reaches out to pet one of the dogs.
oh my god this is too cute for me bye
"You seem to have misplaced your umbrella," Discord replies, twirling one of his own over his shoulder. Its turned inside out, and one cat pops out of the top of it to meow at its fellows down below.
"What brings you out in a storm like this?"
no come back I have more cuteness to give
No, but really, she loves dogs. If she believed in the idea of Heaven, this would definitely qualify.
Even the ones that bite her as she tries to pet them.
"Ow." She says in a flat tone that doesn't really give across any sensation of pain. "I was sent here to rescue the hostages and the others that got captured."
She then goes back to look at the dog that continues to gnaw on her hand.
Yep, just gnawing away.

For now, the dogs continue to play as long as they are allowed.
"They'll be fine...they're super heroes, right?" Discord chimes in merrily, stretching out on his stomach. "I've been trying to wrangle these pups all day. Good thing you're here."
no subject
All that finger biting.
"Each one is different and has it's own personality."
Much like life in general.
"They seem comfortable for the moment."
