Out With the Old [modplot]

Who| Everyone who signed up
What| The rescue of the NPC Legionnaires
Where| A movie studio in New New York
When| Takes place the same time as "Books of Magic"
Warnings/Notes| N/a

The studio where the Legionnaires are being held is swarming with supervillains. It's a trap, of course. But that doesn't mean they have to walk right into it. They have a plan, and now it's time to put it into action.

The Legion of Supervillains are expecting the non-native Legionnaires to be pushovers. They're about to discover just how crushingly, devastatingly wrong they are.

Well hot damn, there's a reason Kid Q is in charge and fandom loves her. "Yes ma'am- fuck!"

He staggers as dizziness rolls over him. Must be a tech-based power, and right now Mastermind is standing with a shield and a device in her hands. For a moment he considers a shot, but stun ammo will be useless and there's no guarantee that live ammo will break her shield, and they can't afford a ricochet in this crowded space.

So he does the next best thing. "Reinhardt! Break her shield!" And her face, while he's at it, but that's implied. He moves to Karate Kid and takes a breath to steady himself. He's fought through more than one concussion. This fucking sucks, but he can handle it. Picking the lock just got a hell of a lot harder, though.

"--Nnngh!"

The wave of vertigo was unexpected, the giant wall of German muscle having to stop swinging for a moment. Setting his hammer down on the ground, and holding on to it, as he waits for the vertigo to pass. It helped steady him, even if it also succeeded in giving them some breathing room from Reinhardt's attacks.

But it didn't last very long.

"Oh, you want to see a blunt object?" Reinhardt spoke up to Mastermind with a smirk, forcing himself back to his feet. The engine on the back of his armor coming to life, as he maneuvered himself to face Mastermind.

//CHARGE >> READY

"LET ME SHOW YOU A BLUNT OBJECT!" And immediately after yelling that, he took off like a rocket. Precision German engineering charging its way through the battlefield, and impacting hard against Mastermind's shield.

Even knowing that she's possibly an alien didn't stop Robbie from checking the back of Saturn Queen's head for serious damage. It might not be wear she kept her brain, but he wanted to at least try and check. He hadn't expected to knock her out so easily and figured she'd hit her head.

It seemed normal? And just leaving the downed fighters free was a bad idea...

"Hrk!" Robbie came within inches of finding out what color plooberry vomit was. But he took a deep breath, and... it wasn't fine but he's used to the room spinning. He's normally more in control of it, but he managed to slowly drag Saturn Queen to the other villain and chain them together with what had been Kid Quantum's bonds.

Then, he ticked off a head count. "Scream Queen, Cosmo Kramer - "

There's the incredible smashing sounding to the side, and Robbie can just make out some green skin past the human Berlin Wall. "Brainless. Guys! I think we're missing one. Where's Lightbulb Lips?"

"Got it covered. Toothless, find him!"

Both Hiccup and Toothless are staggered by the suddenly induced case of vertigo, but Toothless's to track isn't negatively affected. His sense of smell and sense of hearing still work perfectly fine, and he uses them, closing his eyes and making a beeline for Lightning Lord.

The next thing the Winathian villain sees is a mass of scaly flesh rushing straight towards him to tackle him into a wall.

Usually when things are loud, chaotic, and everything's on fire? It's the way they've planned things to happen. There wasn't anywhere in the plan for fire and chaos and yelling at this point- and for the leadership to go quiet one after the other?

Unfortunate.

Bruteshot in hand The Meta jogs to the source of the noise, catching only the tail end of that rather impressive charge. Tech based, not something he can take. Even if they want it. A quick scan brings up a familiar (friendly) outline and signature-

Washington. But no sign of Epsilon. No sign of any AI or- anything other than Wash doing what Wash does best. Find trouble and ride it out. A moment's consideration is given before he slings his weapon on his back and braces himself- simply walking out as casually as possible. They remember enough fragments of who and what they used to be to hold the ruse until they can best assess the situation.

Despite himself, Reinhardt couldn't help but smirk as Mastermind slammed her head against her own shield. The old man practically radiating confidence, as he straightened from his charging stance, and scoffed at the passed-out leaders.

"I believe there is a saying from when I was a child that applies right now," Reinhardt spoke up, his smirk practically audible. Not even paying attention to the rest of the fighting as he slung his hammer over his shoulder, getting one last jab in.

"Get good, scrubs."

The vertigo passes quickly enough, and Wash manages to successfully remove the cuffs from Karate Kid. He looks up in time to see Mastermind ricochet off her own shield and doesn't bother to stop a vicious grin from spreading across his face. His helmet will hide it anyway, and dammit, he deserves the half a second to revel in something going right for a change. "Reinhardt, when this is over, I owe you a beer."

That's when his HUD marks another set of armor in his peripherals. He's been through a few sets of armor himself - enough that he's lost a lot of saved data, including old markers - but that silhouette is unmistakable.

But timeline shenanigans are a known issue here, and this could either be very good or very bad. For a moment, Wash freezes. He doesn't know-

And he can't help but hope.

He straightens up, voice just barely loud enough to be heard when he speaks. "Maine?"
